Then, if you still really want to know more [ABOUT] me, read on
I’m pretty low key and boring, but if you really insist on knowing more, my name is Nafisah, I’m a professional and unprofessional artist.
Drawing consumes my life, Music drives me, and Fashion makes me giddy.
As I said on my home page, I’m a Gay, American-born Chinese Muslim. Pretty weird mix, I know. I’m like every American minority that is currently hated, and wanted by none of them LOL.
As a result, I will often times rant and rave about the Humanities and Sociological problems. I read a lot, but probably not enough, so sometimes my philosophical ramblings may not be entirely accurate, but most of the times at least intelligent.
Oh, also I’m Tyshea on deviantART :)

More on my:
- Sexual Orientation- I say “gay” in the loosest way possible. Strangely, I find gay to be the least offensive term out of the plethora of labels for people who happen to like the same sex. If you really want to know my exact preferences/orientation, I’m pansexual, panromantic, but have preferences for feminine women, androgynous women, feminine men, gay musclechubs, and transwomen. I don’t mean to objectify any of these groups, I just happen to find them the most attractive on a regular basis. I seriously think I could fall in love with just about anyone regardless of looks and sex, but I’m taken by an angel and want to grow old with her.
- My ethnicity- I’m first generation Chinese American. My mom was born and raised in Taiwan, Dad born and raised in Singapore. I speak a little bit of Mandarin, but can’t read or write worth shit. Working on getting better at that. First thing’s first though, ethnic equality and visibility in American media. I’m a big time proponent for Asian American rights, not just Chinese.
- My religion- Raised Sunni Muslim from my dad’s side. Mom is practically Atheist, so things have always been tense when it comes to religion in the household. Despite not agreeing with most other Muslims, I still identify and believe very strongly in it as a religion and faith. I pray five times a day, fast for 30 days once every year, and give charity when I can. I do not wear a Hijab, which you can read about here.
- If you ask me why I remain Muslim, I could go on for hours. To put it simply though: I find that searching through other beliefs, Islam is the only one I have yet to find that doesn’t appeal to human selfishness, but rather for peace, and the spiritual and logical power to deduce the ultimate truth of a higher being. I don’t want to argue science vs religion, or any religion against my own (and honestly, my beliefs should only really matter to me, as I am not forcing anyone to live as I do). I believe anyone, through any set of faith, religious or secular, has the power to be a great, kind person. I love to learn from others through coexistence, and have pledged a life of pacifism to achieve this.
- I would love to discuss any topic with you, as long as you do not approach me in hopes of changing my mind.
- My nationality- I am American. Why not? I find identifying as such is so taboo to my family, older generation Asians, and practically any traditional-minded Muslim. But I was born here, raised here, and wish to continue living here. America gives me the freedom to be an artist, a Muslim, an Asian, and in a same-sex relationship. My family calls me “white-washed,” but some strangers call me “too Asian,” or “too different,” or “too religious.” I am forever stuck in an uncanny valley of being proud of my heritage and wanting to coexist peacefully with others who are close-minded.

If you bothered to read all that, I’m impressed!
I’m pretty damn long winded, and sound more complicated than I really am. I promise I’m pretty much just like everyone else. ;)
If you STILL want to read more about me, my story and coming out, please read this.
