Q:Do you have any tips for someone who is trying to find their own spirituality? I grew up in a pretty atheist/agnostic home and while those practices will probably always be a small part of my life, I'd really like to my spirituality a larger part. But... being so new to all this, I don't even know where to begin and a lot of the time I feel out of place because I am so use to beveling in nothing. It's all so overwhelming.

It’s hard to say because I was born into my religion, and I won’t deny it really helped me iron out my own spirituality.

But my first question to you is: do you want to believe in (a) God?
If the answer is “yes,” then honestly? You already do.
God doesn’t really need a name, or an image, or an embodiment, or a religion attached.
You just need to want that existence in your life, to acknowledge it, and you’re already there.

Having a religion can help though. My advice on that is to talk to people about it. Don’t be afraid to start up a dialogue with anyone you know about religion or God (hell, you can even ask me on my thoughts, if you’d like).
This doesn’t mean you have to swallow everything they say. It’s just to hear about what they think.
Just expose yourself to others’ spirituality.
And a simple conversation can potentially open your eyes to a religion you may want to pursue or just read more about.

But do I think spirituality needs religion?
No. But it could help. It can also get in the way.
Be open about committing to a religion. In fact, you don’t even need to commit to one, if it’s the shoe doesn’t fit.
Don’t be discouraged from adopting anything from any religion or set of beliefs if it feels right to you.

As always, I hope this helped. It’s rare for me to get questions on spirituality, so I’m sorry if this was a little clumsy.
Best of luck to you!
