An insecurity I decided to say “Fuck off” to

I will be frank.
The first “Picture This” story has some pretty dark elements.
I won’t spoil what it might be, but it made me sincerely nervous for a while.

We got an ask a while ago asking if the stories would have dark themes, and if so, would we please include warnings.

It made me start worrying that Sam&Sara’s story would be too hard to swallow for some of our readers.

But then I realized something.

We’re not writing for people who possibly won’t like our stories.
We’re not writing for people who need a form of escape or mental fantasy.

We’re writing for us…and we’re writing for that one kid who we may just save.
We’re writing in hopes that someone, somewhere, going through a lot of issues, will read our story and feel like “…this girl is just like me.”
We’re writing to give hope to that one person, even if we scare everyone else away.

So i told my insecurity to go “fuck off,” because if I let my fear rule me, we would never have made Picture This in the first place.
We wouldn’t make something “controversial” and “gay” if we were scared.

Our stories are so much more than “feel-good” cookie cutter crap, and if someone is offended about our dark content, I guess I’ll just have to live with that and keep praying someone out there will be thanking me from the bottom of their heart.

….though that may be wishful thinking <3
